Michał Rot - Graduate of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Music Academy in Łódź. He graduated with distinction in 2012 under Prof. Cezary Sanecki piano masterclass. He further honed his skills in Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, Prof. Andrzej Ratusiński piano masterclass and Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim and studied chamber music under Prof. Michael Flaksman and Prof. Jelena Očić.
The artist is a laureate of many national and international music competitions. The most prestigious are: A distinction at the Chopin Competition Władysław Kędra in Łódź, 2nd Prize and Special Prize for best performance of a Polish modern piece at XVII International Chamber Music Competition in Łódź, Special Prize for best pianist at XVIII International J. Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, IV Prize at IV International Lied-Duo Richard Strauss Competition in Sofia.
There are some outstanding musical personalities who have had a huge impact on his artistic development such as: Paul Badura – Skoda, Andrzeja Jasiński, Elza Kolodin, Dang Thai – Son, Jonathan Zak, Jose Gallardo, Eduardo Hubert, Peter Efler, Paul Gulda, Victor Chestopal and many others.
Michał Rot leads an active concert life both in his country and abroad. He had performed on number of significant music festivals, only to mention: Ascoli Piceno Festival, Gaude Mater, Music on the Heights, Mieczyslaw Wajnberg Days at PNRSO, LEO Festival, Opus Magnum, Karol Szymanowski Music Days, Heidelberger Kammermusikfestival, Presentations – Żelazowa Wola,Kubinska Hudobna Jesen, Vienna Music Festival, Polish Song Festival, Chopin in the Autumn Colours, Music Autumn in Przemyśl, Ludwig van Beethoven Silesian Festival.
He had the honour of performing at important concert halls, including: Polish National Philharmonic, National Forum of Music, Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra hall, Polish Baltic Philharmonic, Lower-silesian Philharmonic, Podkarpacka Philharmony, Philharmonies in Opole, Łódź Częstochowa, Kalisz, Zielona Góra, and many other philharmonic and important culture institutions, such as: Cercle Royale Gaulois in Brussels, Eroica-Saal in Vienna, Baal-Saal in Heidelberg, Townhall in Vilnius, Matrisse du Notre Dame in Rouen, Philharmony and Opera in Lviv.
The pianist have has collaborated with prominent artists like: Michael Flaksman, Justus Grimm, Ernst Kovacic, Joseph Swensen, Agata Szymczewska, Roberto Trainini, Natan Dondalski, Jerzy Salwarowski, Christian Danowicz, Jerzy Swoboda, Daniel Raiskin, Tomasz Daroch, Jelena Očić, Krzysztof Karpeta (Reger Duo), Piotr Tarcholik, Andrzej Kosendiak, Radosław Pujanek, Aleksandra Szwejkowska – Belica.
Since 2016 he has played in a duet with cellist Wojciech Fudala. They received a scholarship in the field of popularizing culture from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Vocal lyricism is another area of pianists fascination. Since 2007, he has created a chamber music duet with his wife Joanna Rot (mezzo-soprano), who had several years guidance from the remarkable Polish singer Urszula Kryger. The artists later developed their skills under the supervision of Ulrich Eisenlohr in Mannheim and world-renowed baritone Olaf Bär in Dresden (2010-2014).
He parallelly collaborates with recognized singers: Baruch Finkelstein, Szymon Komasa, Bartłomiej Misiuda, Katarzyna Haras, Bernadetta Grabias, Karina Skrzeszewska, Stanisław Kierner, Anna Lichorowicz, Ziemowit Wojtczak.
Pianist have made many recordings among which are Schubert’s Winterreise (DUX) with baritone Stanisław Kierner ; Song of Earth (Polish Radio Recordings) with violinist Aleksandra Szwejkowska - Belica; Reger Duo plays Yagling (DUX) with world premiere recordings of Victoria Yagling’s cello works with Krzysztof Karpeta; Jan Novák. Chamber Music (DUX) and two recordings nominated to prestigious Fryderyk Award: in 2021: Paderewski, Koczalski, Szymanowski. Songs (DUX) with baritone Stanisław Kierner; and in 2020: Mieczysław Wajnberg. Sonatas for Cello and Piano (DUX) with cellist Wojciech Fudala.
The artist has received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for outstanding achievements in the field of music. He has worked at the Music Academy in Łódź as Chair of Piano Chamber Music, where he had received the title of post-doctoral degree of arts in 2021.
