Maciej Baran

Cellist. A graduate of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, in the class of Professor Andrzej Orkisz and Professor Stanisław Firlej. A laureate of solo and chamber music competitions, he honed his skills with teachers such as David Geringas, Tomasz Strahl, Paweł Głombik, Claus Reichardt, Dominik Połoński, Adam Klocek, and many others. He made his solo debut in 2006 with the Silesian Philharmonic, performing Witold Lutosławski's Grave-Metamorphoses. He later worked as an employee of the Philharmonic.

From 2011 to 2012, he was deputy concertmaster at the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc, Czech Republic. From 2012 to 2023, he served as deputy concertmaster at the Grand Theatre in Łódź, and currently serves as concertmaster at the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra. He also taught cello at the Municipal School of Music in Skierniewice and at the State School of Music in Konin. He has collaborated with ensembles such as Sinfonia Varsovia, the Prague State Opera, the Łódź Philharmonic, and the Kalisz Philharmonic. He also released an album with The Cellos, a blend of improvised, classical, electronic, and metal music styles.
