Graduated with distinction from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he studied under Professor Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń. He currently serves as a professor at the same institution, leading his own piano class. He has furthered his education through masterclasses with renowned artists such as Bernard Ringeissen, Ewa Pobłocka, Jacques Rouvier, Dang Thai Son, Mikhail Voskresensky, and Nelson Goerner.
He received special prizes at the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (2007) and was a finalist at the International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt (2009). In 2010, he was awarded an Honourable Mention and the Special Prize for the Best Polish Participant at the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
He has performed on many prestigious stages across Poland — including the Duszniki-Zdrój Chopin Festival, the “Chopin and His Europe” Festival in Warsaw, and the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk — as well as internationally in countries such as Germany, Sweden, Russia, Bulgaria, France, Switzerland, the UK, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Italy, China, Japan, South Korea, Egypt, Chile, and Colombia.
Among the notable concert venues where he has performed are Cadogan Hall and Westminster Cathedral Hall in London, Salle Cortot in Paris, Oji Hall in Tokyo, Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall and Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul, Qintai Concert Hall in Wuhan, the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, and the Grand Hall of the Kyiv Conservatory.
As a soloist, he has collaborated with leading orchestras in Poland, including the National Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Polish Radio Orchestra, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the Amadeus Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra, the Leopoldinum Orchestra, and Sinfonia Iuventus, as well as most of the country’s philharmonic ensembles. He has performed under the batons of such distinguished conductors as Antoni Wit, Agnieszka Duczmal, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marek Moś, Wojciech Michniewski, Zygmunt Rychert, Jerzy Salwarowski, Łukasz Borowicz, Adam Sztaba, Daniel Smith, Mitsuyoshi Oikawa, and Bar Avni.
He is also an active chamber musician. Together with his wife, Aleksandra Soboń-Wakarecy, he forms the Wakarecy Piano Duo. He regularly collaborates with cellist Marcin Zdunik, violinist Jakub Jakowicz, and other leading Polish instrumentalists, and frequently performs with the Silesian String Quartet.
His discography includes five CD albums: two solo recordings and three dedicated to chamber music.
